Destiny Aden
Destiny Aden has been named the 2023-2024 Merle Roe Endowed Scholar. Destiny first learned of 91影视 through her dad who recommended the college to continue her education after moving on from community college. Destiny was profoundly impacted by the college鈥檚 commitment to faith, community, and academic excellence. The professors seamlessly integrated faith into their teaching, encouraging her to apply biblical principles to every aspect of life. Destiny feels as though she has made lifelong friends out of some of her professors and classmates. Barclay College was transformative and helped her further career goals, deepen her faith, and equipped her for a life of service. Extracurricular activities have included learning to forge knives from a blacksmith friend, writing her books, and learning to play the piano. The bulk of her Christian Service hours were done through the Christian Motorcyclist Association which consists of toy runs, bike blessings, prayer rides, and so much more. Another big event is CMA鈥檚 annual Run For The Son, a major fundraising initiative that the members work on throughout the year. Whether it鈥檚 fundraising, community outreach, or supporting fellow riders, this is not only her Christian Service hours, it is her ministry. Additionally, she helps with Awana when her church needs help. Destiny鈥檚 favorites Bible verse is Psalm 27:1 鈥淭he Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?鈥 Vocational plans include earning her Master鈥檚 to teach Criminal Justice, and then earning her doctoral degree. Kanyon Bruner
Kanyon Bruner has been named the 2023-2024 Albertson Endowed Scholar. Kanyon came to 91影视 in 2018 on the counsel of his mentor. Kanyon had some ups and downs during his initial years as his primary interest was to play soccer but the Lord started to work on him and changed his heart. A diagnosis of leukemia precipitated a break from college but upon his return he has loved every second of being at Barclay. Barclay is like his home and the Lord keeps drawing him back to Himself and to Haviland. Extracurricular activities have included soccer and cross country. Kanyon has dedicated his Christian Service hours to the Spring Soccer League which draws hundreds of children on to campus every April. The Full-Tuition Scholarship has helped Kanyon tremendously by lowering the cost of a college education. His favorite Bible verse is John 13:7 鈥淛esus answered him, 鈥淲hat I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.鈥 Kanyon plans to continue his education by achieving his Masters in clinical psychology which will allow him to help cancer patients and counsel people from a Christian perspective.

Caleb Donathan
Caleb Donathan has been named the 2023-2024 Alvin and Lucy Anderson Endowed Scholar. Caleb learned about 91影视 as a child, growing up in the Friends Church he met several Barclay alumni who recommended the college to him. His experiences over the years has given him the opportunity to meet a handful of people who he hopes to be friends with for the rest of his life.聽 Barclay has also given him the chance to learn what he believes, why he believes it, and how that will impact how he lives his life.聽 Christian Service hours were centered on serving on the Chapel Planning team for the last three years. The Full-Tuition Scholarship was part of what originally got Caleb to Barclay. His favor Bible verse is Philippians 2:5-11: 鈥淚n your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death鈥攅ven death on a cross. Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 鈥 Long term vocational plans would involve working in the non-profit world doing something that makes people鈥檚 lives better in practical ways.

She was looking for an inexpensive college and Barclay was the first to show up on her internet search. After a visit she knew this was the place God was calling her. Krista鈥檚 experience at Barclay has helped her not only grow in her relationship with God and other believers, but also helped her grow as a person. She said 鈥淚 am not the same person I was when I first came to Barclay and I will forever be grateful for the biblical challenges my classes posed, the friendships I have made, and the memories that were created. My time at Barclay has shown me what a Christian community looks like and fostered a desire within me to make friends, be vulnerable, and to seek God鈥檚 will for all aspects of my life.鈥 Extracurricular activities have included involvement in Barclay鈥檚 production 鈥淎ll Together Now,鈥 sung in the choir, and worked in the Writing Center. She has been serving in student leadership as an RA for the past two years as well as serving as the School of Graduate Studies Ambassador on campus. Additionally, she has been involved with a worship team during her final year of school.聽 Christian Service hours have included serving with Youth Core Ministries mentoring and FCA programs in Kingman, KS. Without the Full-Tuition Scholarship it would not have been possible for her to attend college. As a student paying their own way through school, without this scholarship she would not have had the means to pay her school bills. When God called her to Barclay, she said 鈥渋f it is the Lord鈥檚 will, it has to be the Lord鈥檚 bill.鈥 This scholarship has been the answer to her prayers and a display of God鈥檚 constant provision for her needs. Krista鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10: 鈥So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand.鈥 Vocational plans involve moving to Shelby, North Carolina to serve as the Minister to Children at Elizabeth Baptist Church, additionally Krista will be in the final two semesters of completing her Masters in Family Ministry at 91影视 School of Graduate Studies.

Jackson Entz
Jackson Entz has been named the 2023-2024 Robert Storms Endowed Scholar. Jackson had two older siblings who attended Barclay and they recommended he come to Barclay.聽When he first came to Barclay in 2019, it was simply a place for him to learn more about Christianity and to get an Associate鈥檚 degree in General Education. Over the intervening years Barclay has become a second home for him. It was here that he discovered his love for theatre, which has become a career path he genuinely loves. The college and community has changed Jackson in many positive ways. He has become more spiritually mature, along with being a more open person. Extracurricular activities have included participating in every Barclay theatre production since Newsies.聽Christian Service hours have centered around building set with Randi Shetley. The full tuition scholarship has given Jackson a college experience that he believes is unique and different from most other experiences. His college experience has been much less stressful and doesn鈥檛 force him to worry constantly about his expenses. His favorite Bible verse is Exodus 15:2 鈥淭he Lord is my strength and my defense, he has become my salvation. He is my God and I will praise him, my father鈥檚 God and I will exalt him.鈥 Vocational plans include working backstage at Sight and Sound Theatre in Branson, Missouri. Abhishay Gardia
Abhishay Gardia has been named the 2023-2024 Stan and Tracey Stark Endowed Scholar. Abhishay first heard about 91影视 from his cousin who was at the time applying to attend in 2018. Due to prior commitments to another school, he decided not to attend that year. Later, as he was finishing his bachelors in Theology and Biblical History, he also had to decide what he wanted to do in the future. Wanting to be teacher, he recalled Barclay’s Education program and decided to join the following summer. The experiences at Barclay would be best described as unexpected. Before he got a chance to unpack his bags, he was invited to be part of the soccer team, which was encouraging because it showed how welcoming Barclay is. Abhishay says 鈥淭he sense of belonging is planted by the staff and faculty in such a way that it becomes self-sustainable to the point where the students themselves start reflecting that sense of community back. I believe that Barclay has explicitly created a wonderful example of oneness that the body of Christ shows, each member has its purpose but they serve one another ultimately serving and glorifying Christ. Another special thing about Barclay is their minute details which have reminded me of a moment from scripture like a glimpse of Pentecost in the chapel or the last supper during midnight breakfast, people watching the basketball games in the gym as if they have their arms stretched out like Moses with his arms over the battlefield. I truly hope that I get to find more moments like these and also for whoever wishes to come to Barclay in the following years will be able to find small moments here in Barclay that either reminds them or brings them closer to Christ.鈥 Extracurricular activities have included soccer and theatre with roles as the centaur in Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, a knight, villager and Duke in Rodger and Hammerstein鈥檚 Cinderella. And recently taking part in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream coat as an Ishmaelite and an Egyptian guard. Being in theater has developed an appreciation for the effort that goes into these products and a desire to improve his performance skills. He hopes he will get to take part in more productions in the future as well. Christian Service hours have found Abhishay helping with the Bible translation program where the team is working on editing a children’s Bible. Tasks include checking for grammatical errors, confirming the Greek source for accuracy and relating the approach that other translations have taken. Some of books edited include Acts, Titus, Philemon, Jude, and they are currently working on the book of Revelations. This wonderful experience is not only learning about scripture, but an excitement of knowing that this Bible will be used to send the message of Jesus Christ to children around the world and in turn glorify the kingdom in heaven. The Full-Tuition Scholarship has been an opportunity for growth, to challenge Abhishay in areas that he never expected he could actively participate in and experience how God has moved in his life behind the scenes. His favorite Bible verse is Psalms 56:3-4 鈥淲hen I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise鈥 in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?鈥 Plans for the future are targeted towards earning a Master degree in Special Education.

Gloria Howard has been named the 2023-2024 Fred and Esther Johnson Endowed Scholar. Gloria heard about 91影视 through her parents, Abby and Jason Howard, who attended Barclay. Gloria spent the first year and a half of her life at 91影视 before her parents graduated and moved to Saint Francis. Gloria鈥檚 believes that God has brought her the family that she needed through 91影视. Although 91影视 has its flaws, as all institutions do, it has genuine professors and faculty who encourage students to seek God鈥檚 truth and direction for their lives. Through the theater program and other community elements at Barclay, she found a college family. Extracurricular activities have revolved around Theater and Choir. Christian Service hours have been filled with volunteering with the theater costuming department and with Youth Core Ministries. The Full-Tuition scholarship has allowed Gloria to attend college and grow in her walk with God without gaining a tremendous amount of debt. Because of the Full-Tuition scholarship, she is going to pursue the masters in Family Ministries next year at Barclay. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 15:13 鈥May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.鈥 Vocational plans are centered on earning a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Psychology and a Masters in Family Ministries.

Her time at Barclay has been very different than what she imagined it would be. She has learned a lot and grown spiritually as a person. Lori has enjoyed her time as a student and built relationships with other students.聽Extracurricular activities have found Lori serving as the stage manager for several theatrical productions. Christian Service hours have been completed working for the Institute of Biblical Translation as part of a team performing a theological check on the Children鈥檚 Bible that the Institute is producing. The Full-Tuition Scholarship has been a godsend. As a full-time missionary, finding the money to go to school is difficult. Having the Full-Tuition scholarship has allowed Lori to achieve something she never thought would be possible. Her favorite Bible verse is: Romans 12:1-2 鈥Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters in view of God鈥檚 mercy to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God鈥攖his is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Marcy Rumler-Sparks
Marcy Sparks has been named the 2023-2024 Alvin & Lucy Anderson Endowed Scholar. Marcy learned about 91影视 from her pastor, Rick Carlson. Marcy moved to Haviland not knowing anyone and had only been a believer in Christ for less than a year. She was literally learning all about Christ and the Bible for the very first time, which was something that intimidated her at first. 聽The overall experience has been wonderful because almost every one of her professors has shown the love and light of Christ. Although the learning was from an academic perspective, it never felt that way. The faculty and staff journeyed alongside her every step of the way. As a much older student, she formed very close bonds and friendships with most of her professors! Extracurricular activities have centered on working the box office for our theatre productions and volunteering at Narcotics Anonymous meetings in Pratt. As an independent student the Full-Tuition Scholarship has helped her put herself through college. Marcy鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 2:8 鈥淔or it is by grace you have been saved, through faith鈥攁nd this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.鈥 Marcy has already secured full time employment at Haviland Broadband, where she has been working part-time for the last 2.5 years as an accounting assistant.

Emma has been named the 2022-2023 Zimmerman Endowed Scholar. She first learned about 91影视 from Marcus Collick and Makayla McCarty who have attended Barclay in the past. Emma鈥檚 experience at 91影视 has been great with a warm homelike campus and community that is inviting. Her walk with God has matured, especially in being better disciplined. She loves the classroom settings that allow room for discussion. Emma and her husband are involved with Motion Student Ministries in their home church which fulfills her Christian Service requirements. While Emma is a married student who doesn鈥檛 live on campus, she applauds the full tuition scholarship plan as it communicates an investment from others in the student鈥檚 future and helps students steward the gifts God has given them. Emma鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Romans 8: 14-17 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God鈥檚 children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs鈥攈eirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.聽 Vocational plans include continuing in her role as Worship Leader at Reach Church and getting credentialed within the AGK Network.

His experience here has led to making lifelong friends and has loved his work with CD & Marty Fitch.聽 The small classes have been exactly what he needed to be successful in his academic endeavors.聽 Serving as an RA during his sophomore year helped Isaac learn how to connect with all kinds of different people.聽 It has also taught him the importance of role models in students鈥 lives.聽聽Extracurricular activities included lots of disc golf, playing on the soccer team, all the intramural sports and Neil Unruh鈥檚 welding class.聽 Off campus activities included working for different community members on their farms or wherever he was needed.聽Christian Service hours included working with Youth Core in Greensburg and volunteering to help various community members move furniture and do other household chores. The Full-Tuition Scholarship was a big deal to Isaac.聽He will be able to graduate from Barclay without any debt because of what he has been able to save from his various jobs.聽As a future teacher he knows his salary will be limited so no college debt is a huge blessing. Isaac鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.聽 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.聽 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 聽 Love never fails. Melissa Massey
Melissa has been named the 2022-2023 Dave & Ruth Smitherman Endowed Scholar. Melissa first learned about Barclay from David Williams who is a very good friend of her parents. She went online and read about the college she was so amazed; after prayerful consideration she felt like God was leading her here. Melissa鈥檚 experience at 91影视 has been wonderful and become a second home and family to her. Faculty and students have stood by her highs and lows. The family environment was different than any other college she had attended. The accessibility and friendliness of faculty constantly amazed her. Barclay college is all about building relationships with everyone and treating everyone as family. Her relationship with Christ has grown deeper and closer as a result of the close knit community of believers. Melissa was a RA of the girl鈥檚 dorms and it was fun getting a chance to know the girls on her hallway and having her door open for them and making sure that everyone was doing well. She also helped in the play as usher. Christian Service hours included working for the elderly home in Haviland and going there and cleaning, decorating and spending time with the elderly; it was a blessing. She also painted the park for the kids and helped paint the fence for a family. As a missionary kid the full tuition scholarship meant a lot to her. Knowing the expense involved in studying abroad and realizing God had a plan for her the wonderful people that donated to her education is greatly appreciated. Melissa鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is I Thessalonians 5: 16-18: which says: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God鈥檚 will for you in Christ Jesus. Melissa plans to pursue her Master鈥檚 degree but she is also seeking the Lord for the direction in her life. Praying that He will open up the doors for her life. She knows that whatever she does she wants to bring glory and honor to God鈥檚 name and she will be used for God鈥檚 glory.

Margaret Nicholson-Marsh
Margaret (Maggie) was named the 2022-2023 Faye Wheeler Endowed Scholar. Maggie first heard about 91影视 at a Bible translation event with Dan Kramer and Lori Jenkins in Detroit, Michigan. Barclay has become home to her and it did not take long for her to find great friends and get plugged into an amazing community of believers who are really going after God. She has been inspired and challenged by the people around her, and that means the world to her.聽 Extracurricular activities have included singing and dancing in All Together Now, playing Susan in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and helping with costumes for Cinderella. Christian Service hours have included volunteering at FaithWeavers K-2 group every week and volunteering with the Institute for Biblical Translation to create an open-source Children鈥檚 Bible. The full-tuition scholarship meant that she was able to afford a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree. Maggie went to a community college after graduating high school for her Associate’s degree for the very reason that a Bachelor鈥檚 degree was impossible without crushing debt. The Lord called her out of the workforce and back to school, and the full-tuition scholarship was part of God鈥檚 promise to provide for her. Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:13: You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. Future plans are focused on ministry, especially with children and families. Additional thoughts include church administration, working with orphans, furthering education, and teaching others.

William Holeman
William was named the Robert Storms Endowed Scholar for the 2022-2023 academic year. Will first learned about 91影视 from Dale Johnson and his family when they learned that he was looking at Bible colleges and聽encouraged him to come to Haviland.聽Will鈥檚 first semester at Barclay was right after the Covid summer, so it was a struggle in the beginning to find friends and do things. After that rough start he made some good friendships that he still has today. His own maturing and that of his friends resulted in deep discussions revolving around theological matters instead of whatever from the past. When Will arrived at Barclay he had only been a聽Christian for a couple of years, so now he has a much better understanding of Christianity and other religions. Barclay聽has been a good place to explore the hard questions about the faith聽and come to a deeper understanding of how it developed into what it is today. Extracurricular activities and Christian Service hours have included working backstage for the plays, working with the Bible Translation Institute making a simplified Children’s Bible that will be used as the base translation for use overseas. Will has served as the contact at Barclay for the editing process and maintaining the biblical accuracy of the Children’s Bible. The full tuition Scholarship was a big determiner in coming to Barclay. After two years of college at K-State, he had聽a聽couple of loans and coming to Barclay was the cheapest he had ever paid, making a college education more affordable.聽Will鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:2: Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.聽Future plans could include working with the Bible Institute, but that requires raising support and be a missionary of sorts. He also has the option of going back to the family farm. Finding a ministry to join for a time and do part-time ministry while he works a secular job is another possibility.

Ruthanna has been named the 2022-2023 Anderson Endowed Scholar. She first learned about 91影视 in 1988, when it was known as Friends Bible College, from a friend who attended FBC and her youth pastor who encouraged her to apply. Her experience at FBC/91影视 helped her grow spiritually, academically, and socially.聽 Though she was a quiet presence, faculty, staff, professors, as well as fellow students accepted her, encouraged her, and challenged her.聽 There was so much love and compassion here, it felt like extended family.聽 Extracurricular activities include playing the piano and singing in the Worship Team at Beaver Park Friends Church. Christian Service hours involved singing in Choir and Ensembles.聽 Ruthanna also helped a family in the community learn some basic Sign Language skills.聽 Additionally, she helped a man in the community who had gotten in an accident and needed help with his small motor skills.聽 She also participated in the Haviland Friends Church Orchestra, the Christmas Pageant and the Joseph Technicolor Dreamcoat musical. Ruthanna鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Clayton was named the 2022-2023 Merle Roe Endowed Scholar. He first learned about 91影视 through his dad who attended a semester in Haviland and through friends from Great Bend. Clayton had good experiences at 91影视 and faced highs and lows, as is life, but God has been the same during any good or bad moment. Extracurricular activities and Christian service hours have included operating the spotlight in four theater productions, playing soccer for three seasons, running lights for chapel and serving on the chapel planning team. The full tuition scholarship has helped Clayton continue attending Barclay longer than he could have otherwise. Since his parents are missionaries to Mexico City they could not help him financially as other families might have done. Clayton鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is John 3:16-17: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so that however believes may have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Psalms 40 is also a favorite passage.聽Future plans include interning at a church while working a secular job and praying about the possibility of attending a school of ministry.

Extracurricular activities including painting on canvas as well as restoring and refurbishing old furniture, giving it new life. Christian Service hours are spent caring for her grandchildren so her son and daughter-in-law, who are first responders, can serve their community with peace of mind. Maria鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Romans 5: 7-8: For one will scarcely die for a righteous person though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die; but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 聽Future plans are focused on ministering to the psychological and emotional needs of her community.

Mandy has been named the Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting Endowed Scholar for 2022-2023. Mandy learned about Barclay through the church she grew up in, Denver Friends Church. She first attended Barclay in the Spring of 2008 and soon met her future husband, Trent, and they got married in the summer of 2009. After they had their first son in 2010 Mandy did not resume classes. The 12-year hiatus from school to raise her three beautiful kids came with zero regrets. Now that all of her children are in full-time school, she is finishing her undergrad degree online so that she can go on to get her Masters in counseling. Extra-curricular activities include studying nutrition and exercise physiology and frequently setting fitness goals for herself. Christian Service hours include working with an under-served high-school in their area through a sports camp as well as with various needs that arise within that community. Mandy鈥檚 favorite Bible Verse is Philippians 4:13; I can do all things through Christ who strengths me. Her Master鈥檚 in Counseling will be used in conjunction with her pastoral roles at their church.

Aaron Galindo
Aaron has been named the Stan & Tracey Endowed Scholar for 2022-2023. He learned about Barclay from alum, Adrian Maloney. His experience at 91影视 has been great and everybody is extremely nice and loving. All of his classes and professors have been great in my helping him achieve his academic goals. On top of that, he has been able to gain guidance in strengthening his relationship with Christ. Barclay does not look like much from the outside, but it is truly a diamond in the rough. Aaron鈥檚 extracurricular activity is through his involvement in is the Men鈥檚 Basketball Team. Christian service hours have included helping Mrs. Ballard with Gymnastic mats, keeping score and books at home athletic games, and helping out with the Barclay drama productions. The full tuition scholarship has meant everything to Aaron. It has given him the platform and opportunity to get his education in hopes of getting his master鈥檚 degree! The full tuition scholarship was a blessing in disguise, as he has had the opportunity to meet great people and grow while getting an affordable education. His favorite Bible verse is John 13:7: 鈥You don鈥檛 understand now what I am doing, but some day you will鈥 Aaron鈥檚 future vocational possibilities vary, with hopes of playing basketball professionally overseas. Ariel Coleman
Ariel Coleman was selected as the David and Ruth Smitherman Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Ariel learned about Barclay because many of her family have attended in the past including her parents, Gordon and Melina Coleman. In relationship to the impact Barclay is having on her, Ariel say, 鈥淕od continues to work through Barclay and every year is drastically different because of the different lessons I鈥檓 learning. I love the people around me, I love my classes, and I love feeling like God is guiding me into the person I need to be.鈥 Her extracurricular activities include the Chapel Planning Team, theatre, and in the past, worship teams. She completed her Christian Service hours by volunteering at Youth Core in Greensburg. The Full-Tuition Scholarship has been the only reason she can go to college right now without waiting until later in life when she would be financially able to afford this expense. Ariel鈥檚 favorite Bible verses is: 1 Corinthians 4:20 鈥淔or the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.鈥 and 1 John 3:18 鈥淟ittle children, let us not love in word or talk, but in deed and in truth.鈥 Vocational plans are unknown at this time as Ariel goes where God puts her and does her best to live in the present. Relying on God鈥檚 leading, she is trusting Him to reveal His plan for her life.

Hunter Fitch
Hunter Fitch was selected as the Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Hunter grew up hearing about Barclay from his parents and grandparents who attended Barclay. Hunter has met new people from around the country and even the globe and has made some fond and memorable memories and close friends here. He has also really grown in his faith and walk with Christ through the community and classes. Hunter鈥檚 involvement with extracurricular activities has centered primarily on soccer and STUGO (student government). Christian Service hours have been spent with Youth Core in Greensburg, and serving as family group leader. The Full-Tuition Scholarship has given Hunter a chance to go to college and afford to go into little to no debt compared to other colleges. It has made the stress about being able to afford college a lot less and allowed him to enjoy hanging out with his friends more. His favorite Bible verse is I Peter 4:8 鈥淎bove all, love each other deeply; because love covers over a multitude of sins.鈥 Hunter has not made any set plans for the future yet. He knows he wants to go into finance or accounting, but remains open to whatever doors that God opens up for him.

Cassie Frazier
Cassie Frazier was selected as the Fred and Esther Johnson Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Cassie鈥檚 father had searched for information about inexpensive Christian colleges and when word came to them about the billboard advertising the full tuition scholarship they looked up the Mission Statement and Statement of Faith and liked everything they read. Cassie appreciates the small class sizes and her professors. Last semester, she went on Choir tour during fall break where they sang at different churches in Kansas, Colorado, and Idaho and did volunteer work. Cassie enjoys living in such a small community, and finds it easy to get to know people. She holds down three different jobs in addition to her studies; she works at the Welcome Center, the Admissions office and substitute teaches to get experience in the classroom before she graduates. Cassie has enjoyed participation in our theatre productions: 鈥淢uch Ado About Nothing鈥, 鈥淢ary Poppins鈥, 鈥淣ewsies鈥, and 鈥淭he Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.鈥 In shows where she was busy or could not get a speaking part, she made sure to be involved heavily backstage, which she enjoyed immensely. Christian Service hours have included volunteering with an after-school activity in Greensburg, running sound and slides for chapel and even changed a car battery for someone. Recently Cassie has been serving as a Family Group Leader for Chapel on Thursdays. The Full-Tuition Scholarship has meant that Cassie can attend a Christian college without going into debt. Because her parents are missionaries, she is paying for college on her own. Her scholarship means that she will be able to share the love of Christ with children that need to feel God鈥檚 love. Her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 6: 19-21 鈥淒o not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.鈥 Cassie says: 鈥淕od has not informed me yet where I will teach, if it will be internationally or not. I am looking forward to getting into my classroom and meeting new people.鈥

Davion Knight
Davion Knight was selected as the Robert Storms Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. He discovered 91影视 while on a college tour that traveled from Oklahoma to Kansas to Colorado. Out of all the schools he toured, he decided to come to Barclay. Davion recommends 91影视 and believes others would enjoy the small college experience that allows one to grow and mature physically, mentally and spiritually. Davion kept busy as member of the men鈥檚 basketball team, serving as a family group leader and completed his Christian service hours volunteering his time at Haviland Friends Church with Faithweavers on Wednesday evenings. On the basketball court Davion has the reputation of being one of those guys that players love to play with and hate to play against. He brings fun back to the game while also being incredibly good at it. This season he eclipsed 1000 career points, earned 2nd team all-conference, and 3rd team all-region. The full tuition scholarship has blessed Davion with an opportunity to move along with his studies in college without worrying too much about the finances it would take to pay for school. It has really released some weight off of his shoulders. Davion鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is: Psalm 27:1 鈥淭he Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?鈥 Davion鈥檚 hopes to become a coach in baseball or basketball, the two sports he has real a passion for. Ideally, if he could start his coaching career at the middle school level he feels he can have a positive impact on kid鈥檚 lives.

Elizabeth Johnson
Elizabeth Johnson was selected as the Zimmerman Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Liz heard about Barclay college through her parents and siblings who all graduated from Barclay. Her main extra-curricular activities have centered around our theatre productions: Mary Poppins, Newsies, and All Together Now. Liz also is part of a band that leads worship in chapel. She keeps busy through choir singing engagements and leading Family Groups. She also has served at the food bank in Greensburg a few times. The Full-Tuition Scholarship has made it possible for her to attend college at a reasonable price. Liz says, 鈥淲hen I was in high school, I had decided that I would not attend college until I had enough money to avoid going into debt. I am almost through my third year at 91影视, I have not yet had to take out any student loans. I have a high chance of being able to graduate college with a double major without having to go into debt, which is a HUGE blessing in my life. I will be able to start the next part of my journey without having to worry about paying off my debt, meaning that I can more easily be involved in different ministries right out of college.鈥 Liz鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9 鈥淗ave I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.鈥 (Also all of Psalms 91). There are many different vocational possibilities open to her because there are so many fields she could go into with her business administration degree. She hopes to be able to both help lead worship at a church as well as go into some endeavor in the business field. Some fields that interest her are finance, management, or possibly starting her own business in the future.

Grant Banham
Grant Banham was selected as the Connor Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Barclay was recommended to him by current student Caleb Donathan and alumnus Bradley Metcalfe. For several years Grant had strongly desired to attend a Bible college and earn a degree, and only recently has his life been blessed with the time and opportunity to pursue one. Grant says: 鈥淏arclay has a surprisingly excellent online program that has thoroughly impressed me. The teachers have all been spectacular, providing plenty of feedback and social engagement that makes me feel right at home. So far I have loved the classwork and studies I鈥檝e been a part of, and it has helped me solidify my desire to pursue a master鈥檚 program further down the road.鈥 Grant is active in his home church and community as a youth leader who runs multiple bible study and devotional groups as well as works alongside the other leaders in the day-to-day ministry and organization of the church. He also enjoys playing the piano and guitar, or running board game nights for his friends and family. Christian service is dedicated to the ministries that take place at Twin Rocks Friends Camp in Rockaway, Oregon as camp counselor and Bible teacher. Grant also serves through the NW Yearly Meeting on the Board of Youth and Young Adults. Grant鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is: Romans 3:21-25 鈥淏ut now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.鈥 Grant鈥檚 role and responsibilities within his home church is constantly growing. Through God鈥檚 leading, Grant is experiencing spiritual maturity through 91影视, equipping him to begin to take on the ministry God has put in front of him.

Hannah Wallace
Hannah Wallace was selected as the Albertson Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Hannah learned about 91影视 from a teacher that her mom works with. Barclay has been a game changer for her life, her heart, and spiritual journey. Hannah says. 鈥淚 was not expecting the sense of family that I鈥檝e received while attending and have gained a whole new family while here! My only regret is that I didn鈥檛 know about Barclay sooner in my life.鈥 When not working full-time or managing her studies as an online student, Hannah is usually in her community volunteering. That includes helping repaint a house, moving a person to a new home and helping gather donations for those in need. Additionally, she has helped with donations to the Emergency Children鈥檚 Shelter and continues to help advocate for the shelter鈥檚 needs. Hannah鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Job 22: 21-22: 鈥淪ubmit to God and be at peace with Him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Accept instruction from His mouth and lay up His words in your heart.鈥 Barclay has guided her plans to serve the Lord with all that she has. Her degree will allow her to not only aid those seeking psychological help, but also allow her to offer spiritual guidance as well. Hannah says. 鈥淢y teachers have been shining examples of what it looks like to be amazing spiritual leaders and I can only pray to be half the leaders that they are.鈥

Kathrine Rodriguez
Kathrine Rodriguez was selected as the Scott Clark Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Kathrine first learned about Barclay when her father told her about it after looking for affordable Christian colleges. When God opened the door for her mom to buy a house only a four-minute walk from campus, she knew this was where she was meant to go.
Kathrine describes her experience at 91影视 as amazing. She says, 鈥淕od has been so evident here. Even through the tough moments, He still sends a reminder that He is there with me.鈥 Being a part of the choir has been a wonderful experience that truly feels like a family to Kathrine. Christian Service hours have been earned primarily by writing thank you notes to donors. Helping out her home church over the summer is another thing she loves doing; and most recently, she has helped with the concession stand during the play.
The Full-Tuition Scholarship has meant so much to her and her family. It is a relief and a blessing to know that there are people who love and believe enough in the students that attend 91影视 to help them out financially.
Kathrine鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Psalms 40:1-2, 鈥淚 waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock.鈥
Kathrine plans to earn her master鈥檚 in psychology in order to practice clinical psychology. She is especially interested in working with the elderly. Of course, she hopes He leads her wherever He wants her and to whatever God wants her to do.

Mason Smith
Mason Smith has been selected as the Merle Roe Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Mason learned about 91影视 from Dave Robinson who told him to look into it since he was wanting to be a pastor. Mason has had a great experience at Barclay. The wide variety of denominations and beliefs helped him to think about theological ideas from a different perspective. The instruction in the classroom was also good, with a number of the professors who currently or recently pastored churches which provided practical advice for ministry.
Mason dedicated his Christian service hours to volunteering at his home church in the children鈥檚 ministry. The Full-Tuition Scholarship meant that he could go to school and reasonably pay for a semester without amassing a large amount of debt. This benefit means that he can more comfortably move into ministry after college.
Mason鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 8:1-3, 鈥淲e know that we all have聽knowledge. Knowledge makes聽one聽conceited, but love聽edifies聽people. If anyone thinks that he knows anything, he has not yet聽known as he ought to know; but if anyone loves God, he聽is known by Him.鈥澛
Mason plans to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in Spiritual Formation, then hopefully will get an associate pastor position while he learns more in ministry. His end goal is to be able to teach while also serving as a congregational care pastor.

Sarah Fitch
Sarah Fitch was selected as the Eva Ellis Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Sarah learned about 91影视 through Kaleo Academy during her junior year of high school.聽When Sarah talks about her experiences at Barclay she says, 鈥91影视 has changed my life in more ways than I can explain. The professors who invested in me, classes focused on drawing me closer to the Lord, and a community of believers supporting me every step of the way has made me who I am today. I never would have dreamed of my college years being so challenging and beautiful all at the same time. It鈥檚 a place I will hold dearly forever.鈥澛
She has participated in Student Government and the theatre program as well as serving as student chaplain.聽Her Christian Service hours were completed through serving as a family group leader and helping out at Haviland Friends youth group for a time. The Full Tuition scholarship gave Sarah the opportunity to continue her education despite financial hardships within her family. In addition, she was able to enjoy years at Barclay and dedicate herself to building relationships and pursuing her education rather than worrying about her finances.
Sarah鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Zephaniah 3:17, 鈥淭he Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you; but will rejoice over you with singing.鈥 Sarah, in response to the Lord鈥檚 leading, is planning a career in the pastorate.

Savannah Read
Savannah Read was selected as the Faye Wheeler Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022.聽 Savannah learned about Barclay through an acquaintance in high school. She has been stretched both academically and socially and made some of the best friends she has ever had at Barclay. These new relationships are soul-friends who have anchored her in the Lord and love her despite any flaws. God has humbled her through experiences at Barclay by teaching her what it means to trust Him when she cannot see what may come next. Savannah says: 鈥淚 have learned to rely on God in a new and fresh way. My theology has been challenged and strengthened as I have learned about higher criticism and exegesis. Being equipped for ministry through education in theology has been incredibly meaningful to me as a woman called to serve. I know that I cannot go to any Christian institution and be respected and equipped for ministry as a woman.鈥
Savannah stays busy with viola lessons, a performance at the Fall Recital and participation in softball intramurals. She loves supporting her friends by ushering at the theater productions and also serves as a family group leader. Christian Service hours have been completed at NewSpring and Vima churches in Wichita working with youth and children. The Full Tuition Scholarship has been an immense blessing, allowing Savannah to get a quality Christian education in theology and Bible for a fraction of the cost. The uniqueness of this scholarship is that the blessing will not end at graduation, but will continue to impact her future as she pursues a vocation in ministry.
Her favorite Bible verse is I Corinthians 13:12. 鈥淔or now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.鈥 Potential vocational possibilities include various pastoral roles, chaplaincy, or non-profit work.

Susan Andersen
Susan Andersen was selected as the Stan Stark Endowed Scholar for 2021-2022. Susan鈥檚 sister Megan came to Barclay a year before her, and she recommended the college to her. The Free Tuition Scholarship made 91影视 a better choice than the other options she considered. The community at Barclay gave Susan friends whom she cares deeply about and has connected her with some of the most kind and accepting people she has ever met. It was the teachers and students at Barclay that motivated her to finish her education at Barclay. Certain aspects of her experience at Barclay have made her wiser and more prepared to handle particular situations. Susan did not participate in extracurricular events, but instead chose to devote time to her studies and friends.
Susan spent the bulk of her Christian service hours volunteering at Novanod Treasures in Kinsley, which also allowed her to complete her practicum with the owner of the store. She also worked to clean Lemmons Auditorium after theatre productions in support of her classmates who dedicate so many extracurricular hours. The Full Tuition Scholarship has been a great way to see how others give back to the college community. Susan says, 鈥淢any at the college, including myself, chose 91影视 because of the lesser expense for tuition. Donating and giving back to others allows more options for those who want to further their education while also not having the means to do so.鈥
Susan鈥檚 favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:1, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God鈥檚 mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God鈥攖his is your true and proper worship.” Susan emphasizes that we live our lives in the world, but not of it; this is the path of living a life that is pleasing in the eyes of the Lord. Worship is not confined to the walls of our sanctuaries; our worship of God is in all that we do, and we should live as such. Through integrity, kindness, and respect, Susan believes one can show others what Christ is like and how we are to treat others. While specific next steps are not finalized, Susan knows that if she mirrors Christ, she is on the right path.
